NOTES:

Shippy was a farmer who owned various land during his lifetime. He began with a 580 ac woodlot inherited from his father Michael. He received 100 ac on the Waldeck Road from his wife’s family, purchased an adjoining 200 ac, and this was their homestead property. When he was 66 he purchased 300 ac in Nictaux South and moved there, with 18 ac under cultivation and 7 in pasture although it was not good farmland. He sold the 300 ac Waldeck property, and later sold the Nictaux property in two parcels to two of his children.

Shippy and Altje had two other children, not listed above. Margaret was born at Clements in 1808 and it is assumed she died in childhood. William was born in Clements in 1810 and died at Strathroy, on 7 Mar 1896 after a career in shoemaking. His apprenticeship papers are in the online database.
