Hopefully you have found that this website has identified the basic history
of a family which interests you. For the Coates, Lighthall and Spurr families the website shows our ancestors back to the time they first arrived in North
America. For the Jost family it shows the history since they arrived in Canada. This website only contains 223 people and provides a little information about each of these individuals. It shows their family linkages as well as dates and locations of their birth and death, and in some cases, of their marriages.
The full digital data base contains much more information. As of June 2025 the data base contains about 2,800 persons, including 197 Spurrs, 115 Josts, 187 Lighthalls and 45 Coates’. The coverage in the data base is much more extensive and varies greatly from person to person. It usually provides parents, siblings, spouses and children of the family members, and in some cases, their ancestors. For any person it may contain photos, stories, documents and sources.
Anyone who wants more family history information from the full data base
is invited to contact me at the coordinates below. Many of you will
recognize one or two family members in the website and may want more
information such as the families of these members, the children of these
families, and the children of these children. Much of this information is in
the digital data base but incorporating it in the website was just too
complicated for me. You may be interested to know that the MacFamily
Tree program used for this data base is able to readily produce charts and reports to convey important family information such as ancestor charts, descendant
charts, relationship charts, person reports, Ahnentafel reports and even
narratives.
