NOTES:
Cornelius moved from Schenectady to the Hawkesbury Ontario area around the turn of the 19th century. He worked on the Ottawa River, ferrying goods and people from the Montreal area to the rapids at Pointe Fortune where they were transhipped for further passage up the river. After marrying Eliza Jane he captained his own streamboat on the river and they bought a 100 acre farm at Vankleek Hill, also working as collector and assessor.
