NOTES:

Charles (known as “Charlie”) grew up in Kitsilano Point in Vancouver. After graduating in Civil Engineering from UBC in 1940, he embarked on a career building airports, railroads, hydroelectric projects and mines. In the early part of his career, his growing family followed him to the many towns in BC where he worked. The family finally settled in West Vancouver, from where Charlie was frequently absent as he commuted to his project sites.

He took the younger family members for a mining project in the Philippines and with Kay spent time in Newfoundland. Charlie and Kay retired to a home they built on the Denman Island waterfront, where he happily pursued his passion for an old Rover car, ham radios, reading and puttering. He and Kay did some memorable traveling in retirement, the highlight being a sailboat crossing from Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands. Charlie was a great character who always had a new joke and loved to laugh.
