NOTE:
In early 1940s Monnie worked on Parliament Hill, then became personal assistant to Henry Marshall Tory in the founding of Carleton University. In 1958 she began employment at Communications Branch, National Research Council, and continued there until about 1965-66. She never told anyone what she did there – it was highly secret work. In 1967 Monnie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and within a few years was unable to walk. Despite this limitation for fifteen years she lived courageously in her home, then in a seniors residence, then in the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital Nursing Centre.
